Paris Hilton Drops Appeal

Paris Hilton’s lawyers have dropped plans to appeal her 45-day jail sentence after learning that the amount of time the famous socialite must actually serve will be cut almost in half, a court official said on Friday.

Paris Hilton was found driving on a suspended license in February, following her 2006 conviction for driving under the influence of alcohol.

The hotel heiress is scheduled to begin her sentence, which could be as small as 23 days, before June 5.
Paris will be confined 23 hours a day to an 8-foot-by-12-foot cell that she most likely will share with another inmate, he said.

Paris Hilton May Not Serve Full Sentence

Paris Hilton, who faces 45 days in prison for driving on a suspended license, has chances of escaping the jail sentence.

Hilton, could spend three weeks or less behind bars because of a state requirement that grants inmates time off for good behavior and because of overcrowding in the system, Los Angeles County sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said.

She will not receive any favors because she is a celebrity, he added.

Paris Hilton Sentenced to 45 Days in Jail

A judge has sentenced Celebrity heiress Paris Hilton to 45 days in Los Angeles County jail for violating her probation in a reckless-driving case.

Hilton must go to jail on June 5 and she will spend the 45 days at a women’s jail in suburban Lynwood. Paris Hilton will not be allowed any work release, no furloughs, no use of an alternative jail and no electronic monitoring in lieu of jail.

She pleaded to the judge just before the decision “I’m very sorry and from now on I’m going to pay complete attention to everything. I’m sorry and I did not do it on purpose at all”

LA judge handed down the sentence after prosecutors contended in a two-hour hearing that Hilton had violated her probation when she was ticketed in late February for driving a blue Bentley Continental GTC on Sunset Boulevard with a suspended license. Hilton and her attorneys argued that it was a mistake and that her action did not warrant a jail sentence.
